Everybody knows Microsoft Word. It’s on almost every PC in the world and fair few Macs as well. However, a lot of users have picked up bad habits, things that detract from the usefulness of the document being created. This article looks at the most common basic errors among Microsoft users.

* When creating a document to be printed on a particular type of stationery, such as letter-headed paper, many Word users have the habit of using the Return key to create space at the start of the document. What they should be doing is changing the top margin. To change the margins in Word 2007, click on Margins then Custom Margins in the Page Layout tab on the ribbon. In previous versions of Word, choose Page Setup from the File menu.

* Leaving two spaces after the period which ends each sentence is another common error among users. In fact, one space is fine with modern typefaces since they are proportionally spaced (e.g., the letter “w” takes up more space than the letter “i”). The two space habit is a throwback to the days when people were using typewriters with monospace typefaces such as Elite and Courier.

* Do you habitually press the Return key two times to indicate the end of a paragraph? If so, you should consider pressing the Return key just once then using the paragraph spacing commands which can be found by clicking on the Page Layout tab of the ribbon in Word 2007 or by clicking on Format then Paragraph in Word 2003.

* People who have never had any formal Microsoft Word training can perhaps be forgiven for not fully understanding how tabs work. You will even see some users attempting to align elements by using the space bar and, of course, when they print the document, nothing is properly aligned. As experienced users will know, the Tab key should be used; not the space bar.

* Having identified the Tab key as the correct one to use to create columns, many Word users just press the tab key to tab along to the next default tab. The number of times the Tab key is pressed will thus vary, depending on the length of each piece of text. It is much better to set one’s own tabs by clicking on the Word ruler. This means that on each line of text, the tab key will be pressed the same number of times between columns.

* Another common mistake among Word users is to manually format text in long documents or perhaps to user the Format Painter. Manually formatting text is fine for single page or short documents but with long documents, it’s best to use Word’s style feature. That way, if you need to modify the appearance of the document, all you need to do is to modify the attributes of the styles.

* Word AutoCorrect and other text optimisation features can sometimes seem a bit too much to some users but many people do nothing to adjust the way these features work. In Word 2007, the AutoCorrect and other settings can be changed at any time by clicking on the Office Button and choosing Word Options. The equivalent in Word 2003 and earlier is Tools – Options.

rry, I almost forgot to post this today.  My partners and I are getting ready to launch a site and I lost track of time.

I found some more cool stuff on YouTube. I also found a forum that has post aft post of PC tricks to do w/ images. First, here are some useful ones. there are a few thigs you should do on a regular basis- at least once a week.I use Avast Anti-Virus. It’s a free program and has caught more things than any other that I have used. The two below are also free programs and are among the best out there free or paid programs.

1. One is to run CCleaner which is a system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system.
2. Run Malwarebytes – is an anti-malware application that can thoroughly remove even the most advanced malware. They also have some other very useful utilities, and many are free.
3. Do a Defrag , will put fragmented files back together and help speed up your computer since it won’t spend more resources looking for bits of files that could be spread all over your computer.

Nothing great ever happens by accident. Successful people from all walks of life don’t just wake up one morning as high achievers! For change to happen, a plan of action has to be made, targets have to be set and a commitment to see it through has to be adopted.

Before you embark on your studies, you’ll find it valuable to set yourself a series of goals or targets to help you complete the course. Spending a little time planning these goals will pay dividends down the road. To have a chance of reaching your goals, they should always be S.M.A.R.T. – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Targeted.

To really get involved at an emotional level with the successful completion of your studies, compose a contract for yourself using the following headings:

DEFINE exactly what you expect to get from your efforts, in terms of possessions, income, lifestyle etc. Make a collage of pictures that reflects these things, and look at them regularly (e.g. before your study sessions). The more specifically you define what you want, the better.

DESIRE (why you’re doing it) e.g. personal challenge, get out from where you are, you owe it to yourself to have a better job, to prove to someone you’ve got what it takes, to take control of your destiny. This needs to be something that stirs an emotion within you.

DEDICATION is a measure of how commited you are to a successful end result. Plan your time each week so you know exactly when you’re dedicated to studying. This not only helps you to get into a routine, it’s also an indicator for those around you that you’re engaged in something that’s important to you. They won’t expect you to get involved in different activities when your diary shows a study period if you’ve been consistently sticking to your routine. Setting aside ‘official’ study times helps you to concentrate, and prevents you from thinking about other things that you could be doing. It also frees up your mind to enjoy leisure time outside of study periods.

DETERMINATION – The will to stick to the plan until completion and see it through. This is your contract to ensure that you won’t let yourself down.

Having a plan and targets to work towards gives you a DISCIPLINE that helps you to power through the tough times that will occasionally strike you.

Once you’ve done this, sign it and do NOT put it away in a drawer. This is a working document and should be read every day for at least one month so you buy into it and it becomes your new way of life. If and when things get tough, read it again for another month. Always have it close to hand while you study and show it to your partner, kids (if you have them), friends and parents. This will help you to see your goal through.

I have been a room trainer for several sites and designed a training just for speakers and trainers, which came about rom attending classes and webinars where the presenter had no knowledge on how to use the room’s features. It really detracted from the webinars that I attended, and made them appear as less than professional.

Did you have a hard ime getting into the trainings last week?  We have to apologize for the inconvenience. the conference servers had been moved to their new home in San Antonio, Texas. But just like changing a physical address when you move from one location to another, with this virtual move there have been changes in IP address as well.

With the move of the servers, you may have difficulty getting back into the conference center. This is the easiest way to fix that problem.

If you do not have any other rooms that you wish to save try:

1. Uninstall the conference software
2. Get a new link to the conference room from the website and install it brand new.

Or, if you have other rooms you want to save try this method to backup the database file.

1. Save your database file first, by renaming it old and moving it to another folder. Delete audio video conference software.
2. Go to C\: drive and then to programs
3. Find the folder named Conference
4. Find conference.db and rename it and move it to another folder
5. Delete the Conference folder
6. Get a new link to the conference roo from the website and install it.
7. Copy the db file back to the Conference folder and rename it to the original name. Watch the video for more info
