Utilizing Twitter in conjunction with your blog is quickly becoming one of the best and easiest ways to increase traffic to your blog. The way it works is very simple. Each time you receive a post to your blog a \”tweet\” is made to your Twitter account. This means that everyone of your \”followers\” will get that tweet, in real-time. No matter what size your following is, you will at minimum double the exposure of that post. Can you see the possibilities?
Twitter, as I\’m sure you already know, is a social bookmarking site. It\’s in effect a \”micro-blogging\” tool. The easiest way to explain it is that you can instantly communicate with anyone who follows you in 140 characters or less. It\’s a great way to communicate with family and friends, however it is quickly becoming a commercial tool for businesses small and large.
As a home business owner or affiliate marketer this is where you come in. Twitter can be used to communicate with your customer base or \”followers,\” sending them many different types of messages. What you don\’t want to do is alienate your followers by sending them strictly promotional information. This will make you very unpopular and your follower base will diminish. Twitter marketing is much more subtle and that\’s where your blog comes into play.
You can accomplish this easily. The first thing you need to do is the most obvious, create a Twitter account if you already don\’t have one. Make sure that it is closely tied in with your blog niche. You may be lucky and be able to get a twitter account with the same name as your blog. Next, you need to install the plugin to your WordPress blog. The plugin is called Twitter Tools by Alex King. This is the best plugin that I\’ve found for this type of application. Install it, check the settings and then activate it. What it will do is create a tweet for each post to your blog.
In effect each time a post is made everyone on your Twitter follower list is seeing the post with a url back to your blog. This is the true definition of viral marketing and it\’s done for free, which puts it into the \”organic traffic\” category.
You can carry the automation a step further by also actively looking for Twitter accounts that are tweeting messages related to your niche that you can automatically follow. This is a bit more advanced and requires some intricate set up. You can get more information at our Twitter Resources website www.Twittasaurus.com
